We wanted to use our Blog to post reviews from customers of the products that they have bought from our shop. So I thought I would start it off with a review of my Hornee SA-M3 Kevlar Jeans.
A quick breakdown of the jeans, they are made of denim with 100% DuPont Woven Kevlar stitched inside. It doesn't give 100% coverage throughout the jean, but it's in all the important places, bum, thigh, knee etc. For more information check out the Hornee Website! www.horneejeans.com/testing I bought these in September 2013 when I first got on a bike, before I was working in the shop. They came with free Hornee Knee Armour, which was really comfortable, and wonderful if you have to do any work in the garden etc.
After I got them, I basically lived in them. I was on the bike pretty much every day so in the morning I would get up in the morning, put on the knee armour and then put on the jeans, and only take them off when I got home to go to bed.
I must admit I have put the jeans to the test. After a couple of months I was riding along in the rain and noticed that a car ahead of me had stopped I think that just from inexperience I didn't brake properly and came off. That was the first time I put the jeans to the test. Sadly I didn't think to take a picture but there was no more than a couple of scuffs on the denim.
The next one was again my fault, not entirely sure what happened but I pulled out of my road a bit too fast and the bike just disappeared from underneath me. Gladly the road was quiet otherwise it could have been so much worse. Again the damage was minimal, just a scuff to the denim again, the only think that got hurt was my pride.
Third time, slip road to the A3 came off the roundabout onto the slip road and hit a patch of diesel. I slid along the road on my butt and the only damage was a bruising and the I ripped the pocket on the jeans. I was really hoping I had a picture of my pocket but I don't think I have one.
In conclusion I love my jeans. Although I didn't really want to test how good the kevlar was, someone has got to do it! I know that they work. They're comfortable and they have saved me from a lot of road rash.
